How we score locksmith businesses in Singapore
Who publishes the rankings
Singapore Locksmith Guide is published by SG Heartland Guides, which has run independent home services directories across Singapore since 2026. The rankings are maintained by Jacky Lee, Editor, who oversees the method described here. Currently 29 businesses are scored. You can see the results on the home page and in our best locksmiths list.
How the score works
Each business gets a composite score from 0 to 100. It is built from five measured signals. This directory sets its own weighting within fixed limits, and the same weights apply equally to every listing. Here they are, heaviest first.
| Signal | Weight | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Sentiment | 30% | Synthesis of recent review themes: praise versus complaints |
| Rating | 30% | Google aggregate star rating |
| Volume | 25% | How many reviews, log-scaled |
| Recency | 10% | How recently customers reviewed |
| Completeness | 5% | Whether phone, website, hours and address are listed |
Sentiment and rating share the top weight. No other signal leads.
Why each signal matters
Sentiment (30%)
A star average hides patterns. Two locksmiths can both sit at 4.5 stars, yet one keeps collecting the same complaint, such as a quote that grew on arrival or a no-show after a lockout call. Reading what recent reviews actually say is the only way to catch that, so we synthesise the themes and weigh praise against complaints.
Rating (30%)
The star average is the quickest summary of how customers rated the whole experience. We smooth it toward the directory average, so a perfect score from a handful of reviews cannot beat a long record of good work.
Volume (25%)
More reviews mean more evidence. We log-scale the count, so going from 5 to 50 reviews counts for far more than going from 500 to 545. A handful of reviews does not equal hundreds.
Recency (10%)
Locksmith businesses change. Staff leave, pricing shifts, call-out times slip. Recent reviews tell you how a business performs now, not years ago.
Completeness (5%)
When you are locked out, you need a working phone number, an address and opening hours. A listing with a website, phone, hours and address all present scores higher on this small signal.
What we do not do
Scores are earned from this rubric and data only. They are never edited by hand. Paid placement, when it exists, is always labelled and never changes the score. If any list has picks or order that an editor reviewed, the page itself says so.
Honest limits
- Low-confidence scores. A business with few recent reviews gets a score we label as low confidence. Treat it as a rough guide.
- We synthesise, not republish. We summarise review themes in our own words. For the source, we link out to Google, where you can read the reviews yourself.
- Reviews are imperfect. They reflect customers who chose to write one. They are not an inspection of workmanship or licensing.
- Scores are a starting point. Always confirm the price and arrival time by phone before anyone starts work.
How fresh the data is
We refresh data monthly. Each listing carries a "last verified" stamp, so you can see when it was last checked.

FAQ
- Can a locksmith pay to rank higher?
- No. Rankings cannot be purchased. Paid placement, when it exists, is labelled and never changes the score.
- What does a low-confidence label mean?
- The business has few recent reviews, so its score rests on thin evidence. It is shown, but treat it as a rough guide.
- Why do you link to Google instead of quoting reviews?
- We synthesise review themes in our own words and link to Google so you can read the original reviews at the source.
- How often is the data updated?
- Monthly. Each listing has a last verified stamp showing when it was last checked.
